Why Are Your Ads Not Making Money?

The biggest mistake every business owner makes is thinking they can sell to everyone.

But the reality is, you can't. If you try to sell to everyone, you're selling to no one.

Business owners often assume their audience has no bias, believing that everyone with money is their customer.

However, there is always bias, whether it’s selling primarily to men or women, tall or short.

You need to find your specific audience.

So, why is this important?

Business is all about making money and driving sales.

With that money, you can do what you want, like buy the highest-quality coffee machine or a newer, faster laptop.

Direct Marketing

When making sales, it's easier to sell to some people than others; this could be due to gender bias, age group bias, etc.

For example, Jim Rohn, a legendary entrepreneur and motivational speaker, noticed that in city after city, most men in his audience had crew cuts.

So, when visiting a new city, he would go to barber shops and ask for a list of clients who got crew cuts.

He then mailed them a promotional offer, which boosted the response rate enormously because there's always a bias.

If you talk to the right people, you’ll get a response rate much higher than with direct marketing.

Mass Marketing

Most big brands do mass marketing—Coca-Cola, for example, markets to the entire world, targeting every age, ethnicity, and income class.

They spend 4 billion dollars every year. Big brands can afford mass marketing, but smaller businesses need focused marketing efforts.

What Should I Do

As a business owner, you need to understand your audience's demographics, interests, and behaviors. Use customer reviews to understand their language and preferences.

Do background research on your target audience. Know their pain points, lifestyle, and communication style.

Your ads should make the target audience feel understood and addressed. A clear, focused message resonates more than a generic one.

P.S. If you’re hitting a bottleneck at any point in your advertising or sales process, get in touch, and we will be happy to take a look at your marketing for you.
